Twitter Auto Responders/Auto DM's - are they good or are they hurt
Total crap I recently found on 15's page of google search:
Where robo-DMs go to die.
An account born for the need to publicly shame people into submission for using Auto DM's on Twitter.
1) For several decades we are living with voicemail's, which are kind of auto rely in a voice format. Are they personal to everyone who is calling and listening to it - NO. Are we all OK with that - YES. Can we live now without - NO. are we using such replies - YES. Are they stay for a good - YES.
2) For more than decade we are receiving automatic email responders. We receiving them when contacting our ISP's, telecom's, public and private services. We are receiving notifications that our messages delivered, or simply thank us for getting in touch with them. Are we complain for getting such emails, when we initiated contact with them - NO. Are they spam - NO. Are we going to leave them just because we got automatic rely - NO. Are we using ourself's such services - YES. Are email auto-replies stay with us for a good - YES.
Why we treat Twitter differently? Just because it is new? Twitter is a new communication media and auto replies are good thing and will stay for a while. It doesn't mean that each and everyone should use them everyday. If your Twitter account is small (from number of followers), you can manage it yourself, you can welcome every new follower in "person". But if you on vacation without Internet access, you can setup auto-responder to thank your new followers and let them know that you are out and will be in touch as soon as you back.
For big Twitter accounts, like companies, celebrities and politicians, managing such accounts manually in person becomes simply impossible. You can choose not to thank your new followers, or to use Auto DM's to welcome your new friends.
The bottom line, Twitter Auto Replies are good, if you use them in a right way. Don't sell directly, do offer products. Since Twitter allows very short BIO, Try to extend your information, offer to visit your website.
Don't be afraid that people will un-follow you just because they received auto DM from you, and only once. If they choose you because of you, because of interest of what you have to offer, they will not un-follow you.
